As we enter September, we continue to notice that AMD and NVIDIA GPU prices are in free fall and are expected to drop further in the coming days.
NVIDIA and AMD GPU prices continue to drop below MSRP, RTX 3090 series drops below $1000 USD for the first time!
last week we reported how AMD and NVIDIA partners were ready to offer deeper discounts and cutbacks on their existing inventory to clear their stock and prepare for next-gen GPUs. Manufacturers flopped on their initial concentrates, butchered them in moving rounds of early batches of this stuff, but we’ve already seen the first hints of that. .

At the time of this writing (03/09/22), several The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and RTX 3090 graphics cards have stumbled below the $1,000 – $1,100 US mark.. At Newegg, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card can be purchased for as little as $959.99US, a 36% drop compared to the MSRP of $1499 US and the first time the series has dropped below $1000 US. At the same time, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is now retailing for $1099 USThat’s an even bigger 45% drop compared to its MSRP of $2000 US.
Even the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, which dropped below US$900 a few weeks ago, is now selling for $799 US, a $100 drop in price from our last pricing article. That’s 33% below the card’s MSRP which was pegged at $1,199 US at launch. At Newegg, you can even find an RTX 3090 for sale for just $928.99US. At BestBuy, you can even find an RTX 3080 Ti listed for as little as $739.99US.

NVIDIA isn’t the only one affected by the price cuts, as AMD’s Radeon RX 6950 XT and RX 6900 XT are well below their MSRPs. The RX 6950 XT has also dropped below $1,000 to $949 from its launch MSRP of $1,099, while the Radeon RX 6900 XT retains its $699 price from its launch MSRP of $999.

On Baidu Forums, we can see daily price updates with several high-end cards now selling at 35-45% below their MSRP. The RTX 3090 Ti, which had an MSRP of 14,999 RMB ($2,173 USD) in China, is currently listed at 7,799 RMB or $1,130 USD. The RTX 3090 and 3080 Ti have seen similar price drops with the rest of the lineup currently selling for 10-15% below MSRP. In the AMD camp, aside from the RX 6900 XT, which is down 40% in price compared to MSRP, the rest of the lineup sits 20-30% below MSRP, which is a drop much higher price tag in the mainstream segment than NVIDIA. .

If you are thinking that these are the lowest prices these cards will ever reach and now is a good time to get a new graphics card, then I advise you to hold off on your purchase as prices continue to fall and with rumors that a possible release of the RTX 40 series in a few months, you could see the RTX 3090s selling for much less and even close to $500 USD.
